The opportunity to experience what life is like on a real working farm is within reach for all of us on 9th June. Each year British farms open their gates as they take part in the event known as Open Farm Sunday organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming). The AFT members taking part are, Samphire (Sycamore Farm), Norfolk and Offley Hoo Farm, Hertfordshire.

Open Farm Sunday is a project which has seen hundreds of farmers across the UK opening up their farm for one Sunday each year since 2006. It is the perfect opportunity for everyone, young and old, to discover at first hand what it means to be a farmer.

Each event is unique with its own activities. Activities during the day may include a farm walk, nature trail, tractor and trailer rides, pond dipping, activities for children, a mini farmers' market or picnics.

As well as being educationally valuable in a time when many children seem to have lost the connection with where their food comes from, it is also a day of fun and entertainment for all the family.

Brand new website launches for Alan Coxon’s Historic Food Range

Buying Alan Coxon’s historic food range has become easier since the launch of a dedicated website foodbyalancoxon.com.

A few months ago, Alan Coxon got in touch with us at The Artisan Food Trail to ask whether we’d be able to create a website for him which would allow him to sell his products more effectively.

Visitors to our website will notice that we have various offerings to assist our members, one of those being website services. The Artisan Food Trail works with experts to ensure that it can achieve the best results according to budget and this is where Building Websites For Business comes in.

Consisting of three key people, one of whom is Graham Childs who is not only joint founder of The Artisan Food Trail but also a director and the design/creative member of the team. He is responsible for the look of the website, creating a strong brand identity. Steve Ramsey handles the technical side, making sure the website is set up to be found easily on the web and is Google friendly (it’s a lot more complicated than we make it sound!) Dawn Mimnagh is the copywriter. Her role is to create readable, grammatically correct text that is accurate as well as interesting and informative.

But enough about the behind the scenes stuff, the best part is that the foodbyalancoxon.com website is live, it’s looking good and ready to take orders. Each product is proudly displayed on the front page; Ale-Gar©®, Ancient Greek Vinaigre©®, Roman Vinaigre©® and Macadamia Nut Oil with a click-through to ‘buy now’ or you can go to the shop area.

For some culinary insight, Alan Coxon, shares some of his recipes, using the historic food range, in a special section which gives you plenty of ideas on how to use them. Overall, the look of the website is modern with a traditional twist, echoing the roots of inspiration behind Alan Coxon’s historic food range.

The Edible Market Food Festival is coming to Luton, Bedfordshire

"When are you going to hold your own food show?" That's a question we've been asked at The Artisan Food Trail on more than one occasion, from food producers and members of the public, alike.

It is certainly something we have been considering for some time and now we have taken the plunge and set the time and place – 12th October 2013, 10am – 5.00pm at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts in Luton, Bedfordshire.

By teaming up with My Events Made Easy we are now able to put together a one day festival which we hope will be the start of many and if all goes to plan, The Edible Market Food Festival will become a travelling show.

The format is simple. We'll be bringing quality food to you.

The Edible Market Food Festival is a showcase for quality food and drink from some of the best producers and makers in the region and further afield including those that are Artisan Food Trail members.

As we write this post, we have already had lots of interest and received a good number of bookings. The producers taking part will be featured on the festival website as and when they are confirmed so keep checking back for updates.

The venue is an amazing space and home to Luton's carnival, so is well equipped as well as being perfectly placed right in the heart of Luton with good transport links.
We have access to both indoor and outdoor space which means we can have an undercover market space and an outside area for quality street food stalls.

In addition to the sellers area, there will also be food demos, workshops and anything else food related that we can comfortably fit into the day.

If you are are food producer and would like to apply for a space at The Edible Market Food Festival, details and online booking are on the website.

We are also looking for sponsors, so again if you are interested, please contact us.

Advance ticket sales will be available shortly and we'll announce when they're up online.
Signing up for the newsletter is a good way to be up to date.
